Founder and Teacher
After leading a worship dance team at her church for many years, Celeste Masson felt impressed upon by the Lord to introduce and teach other children and young adults how to worship the Lord through dance. In 2008, Celeste founded the Great Joy School to fulfill this vision. Her backround is primarily in worship dance, and her passion lies in teaching lyrical where she feels she can best express her love for the Lord.
Becky Mitchell was the Director of the Community School of Dance at Stetson University. She danced and taught for the Southern Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Vasile Petrutiu, and has had the pleasure of training and working with many wonderful teachers and schools. Becky is passionate about helping her students grow and learn, and loves to choreograph and worship the Lord with dance.
Audrey has been dancing for over 15 years. Trained in the styles of lyrical, jazz, tap, contemporary, and pointe, her primary focus has been ballet. For the past three years, Audrey has led the worship dance team at her church, and has taught at several beginner/intermediate dance camps. In 2016 Audrey began participating as assistant teacher for various styles of dance at The Great Joy School, and now as an official teacher- values being able to use her passion to help students honor and glorify the Lord through dance.
April began dancing at age 2, and has continued to dance in various different forms for over thirty years. She has trained in many styles of dance including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and modern. April graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rivier University. She has also trained, competed, and coached roller dance skating. She enjoys worshipping the Lord through music and dance and loves to assist others in their own worship experience.
After beginning dancing at a young age, Cherie later studied at Boston Ballet where she received her B.A. in Dance. She implemented the Intramural Dance Program at the Tewksbury Junior High School, danced with MWC Dance Company, performing in the Washington D.C. area, and taught for the Joy of Movement, a Boston-based studio. Cherie owned and operated Dance Designs in Plaistow, NH for 28 years. Her passion is for missions. Having ministered through choreography and dance in distant places such as England and Hungary, she now enjoys sharing the joy of the Lord with her students at GJS.
Jamie has been dancing since she was 4 years old learning ballet, tap, jazz, theatrical style and more. While attending Gordon College to study Youth Ministry, she led the dance ministry team on campus. Jamie also danced and taught worship dance in various churches. Using dance to advance the Word of God is a passion, and she delights in helping others discover the "Joy" of dance and dance worship.
